On Episode 12 of RadioNuclear, we discuss how fear-mongering stories about nuclear power plants in the path of a hurricane are irrelevant, the Oyster Creek Shutdown, and lastly, how nuclear power should be used geopolitically.

However, the main reason why I am so excited for this show is the interview with American Nuclear Society's (ANS) Executive Director Bob Fine and Past President Dr. Eric Loewen who talk with me about the Society's new K-12 STEM education program Navigating Nuclear, which you may have heard about already.  Navigating Nuclear is the answer to a recurring issue we hear on the show, and that is, "How do we get the next generation excited about nuclear energy?"

This new initiative does just that by bringing the science and cold-hard facts (not the scare tactics) to students across the nation. School districts that currently subscribe to the Discovery Education in-classroom learning platform have access to Navigating Nuclear materials, but ANS has made sure that non-subscribing schools do, as well, simply by visiting the Navigating Nuclear website. Students will learn about nuclear issues (energy, medicine, and space) from world-renowned experts, in an easy-to-comprehend manner.

So with this latest episode, I am happy to share this informative interview with everyone! Programs like this are a great indicator that we are beginning to take back control of the narrative. We need to ensure that the story is, and always will be, that nuclear science and technology are essential to our modern life, and that it is one of the best ways of improving it. While there is still much work to be done, Navigating Nuclear is an exciting step in the right direction. Kudos to the American Nuclear Society for taking on this much needed project and well-done project.

Enjoy Episode 12!
