Join ANS for the panel discussion, What will a clean U.S. electric grid look like in 2035? at 1:30 p.m. (EDT) on Wednesday. Register now for the free virtual event.

Background: Around the world, governments, corporations, and scientists are making the case—and commitments—for decarbonizing electricity generation by the 2030s. With humanity still relying on fossil fuels for around 80 percent of our primary energy use, the scale of the transition needed can be daunting. However, clean electricity and increased electrification are a proven way to displace emissions from fossil fuels in our global economy. Experts from different perspectives and organizations will discuss how we can best achieve this important transition.

Panelists: Moderated by ANS Executive Director/CEO Craig Piercy, the hour-long discussion will feature:

  • Ejeong Baik, a Ph.D. student in Energy Resources Engineering at Stanford University
  • Shannon Bragg-Sitton, lead for Integrated Energy Systems in the Nuclear Science and Technology Directorate at Idaho National Laboratory
  • Patrick Brown, a postdoctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Energy Initiative
  • Trevor Brown, executive director of the Ammonia Energy Association
  • Malcolm Woolf, president and chief executive officer of the National Hydropower Association
