What it’s about: In the words of Eddie M. Guerra, Rizzo’s vice president of civil infrastructure development, “This event is dedicated to the companies and young generation of Pittsburghers developing the innovations that will enable the next wave of nuclear power projects. We all share a vision to transition the world to a clean energy future while also sustaining a growing energy demand and dealing with the effects from an uncertain climate. But to achieve that vision, nuclear power needs to be part of the solution. Therefore, delivering successful and safe nuclear projects is the challenge of our young generation. Come and see for yourself how we are delivering this vision—here in Pittsburgh.”
The event is part of the Global Clean Energy Action Forum, which includes both the thirteenth Clean Energy Ministerial and the seventh Mission Innovation Ministerial.
Attendees will have the opportunity to network with local and international leaders in clean energy; gain exposure to the latest technologies in computer simulation, reactor design, and civil nuclear infrastructure; and learn about Pittsburgh’s role in building the next generation of nuclear energy.
Special guests: Two special guests will deliver presentations at the event: Kathryn Huff, assistant secretary for nuclear energy in the Department of Energy, and Rich Fitzgerald, the county executive of Pennsylvania’s Allegheny County.
