We Don’t Have Time: “Together, we are the solution to the climate crisis,” according to this organization of self-professed ordinary people from a multitude of backgrounds. They share the common belief that the power of many can affect real change. We Don’t Have Time describes itself as “a movement and a tech startup that leverages the power of social media to hold leaders and companies accountable for climate change” by inviting members to leave “climate reviews” and start dialogues.
The moderator: The panel will be moderated by Sweta Chakraborty, a risk and behavioral scientist and president of U.S. operations for We Don’t Have Time.
She also hosts a podcast called Risky Behavior, in which she explores controversial contemporary issues such as climate change.
The panel: On the discussion panel are Kathryn Huff, Seth Grae, and Bonnie Jenkins.
Huff is assistant secretary of energy in the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy. She previously served as a senior advisor in the Office of the Secretary of Energy and as the principal deputy assistant secretary for nuclear energy. Before her move to Washington, D.C., Huff was an assistant professor in the Department of Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering at the University of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign, where she led the Advanced Reactors and Fuel Cycles Research Group.
Grae is president and chief executive officer of Reston, Va.– based Lightbridge Corporation, which develops advanced nuclear technologies, including a proprietary next-generation fuel for both small modular reactors and large light water reactors. Grae is a member of a number of boards and committees, including the Civil Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee to the Secretary of Commerce, the Nuclear Energy Institute’s Board of Directors, the Nuclear Security Working Group, the Nuclear Energy and National Security Coalition, the Working Group on Climate, Nuclear, and Security Affairs of the Council on Strategic Risks.
Jenkins is the U.S. undersecretary of state for arms control and international security in the Department of State. She previously served in the Obama administration as a special envoy and coordinator for threat reduction programs in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation. She was also the State Department lead for all four Nuclear Security Summits held from 2010 to 2016 and was the U.S. representative to the G7 summit.
