Registration is open for NRC’s RIC

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has opened registration for its 35th annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC 2023) The conference, themed “Navigating the Nuclear Future,” will be held March 14–16 in North Bethesda, Md., and will be the first in-person RIC since 2019, although the event will also be accessible virtually.

Register now. Registration, which is required to attend, can be completed by filling out the conference registration online form. The conference is free to the public.

Conference highlights: Focusing on the promises and challenges of the future of nuclear energy, the conference will begin with an address from NRC Chair Christopher T. Hanson. Keynote speaker Rafael Mariano Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, will also address conference participants on the first day. On the second day, Hanson will host a “fireside chat” with Laura S. H. Holgate, the U.S. ambassador to the IAEA and to the Vienna office of the United Nations.

All three days of the conference will include plenary sessions, technical sessions, exhibits, and networking opportunities. NRC commissioners’ plenary sessions will feature commissioners Jeff Baran, David A. Wright, Annie Caputo, and Bradley R. Crowell. An executive director of operations plenary session will feature remarks by Dan Dorman, the NRC’s executive director for operations. A special plenary session with NRC senior managers and industry officials will be moderated by Andrea Veil, the director of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, and Ray Furstenau, the director of the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research.
