The total estimated value of the FOA is more than $19 million, with awards focusing on reinvestment in disadvantaged communities impacted by decades of nuclear defense and research missions and currently hosting environmental cleanup sites.
According to DOE-EM, the awards will also focus on strengthening relationships with communities by supporting projects that serve community and economic development goals, promote revitalization efforts, and promote inclusive community engagement practices.
The details: Eligibility for awards is restricted to disadvantaged communities. The DOE anticipates making multiple financial assistance awards, which will have periods of performance ranging from 12 to 36 months.
The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is January 11, 2024, with a January 25 deadline for concept papers.
