About: Established in 2001 in cooperation with the University of Montpellier, the ISNL is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the various interrelated legal issues relating to the safe, efficient, and secure use of nuclear energy.
Intended for graduate students and young professionals, the 10-day course features lectures by nuclear law specialists on the following:
- Fundamentals of nuclear law.
- Nuclear fuel cycle.
- Radiation protection.
- Nuclear safety, regulation, and licensing.
- Decommissioning, spent fuel, and radioactive waste management.
- Transport of nuclear materials and fuel.
- Environmental law and nuclear activities.
- Nuclear security.
- Nonproliferation and international safeguards for nuclear materials.
- Liability, compensation, and insurance for nuclear damage.
- International trade in nuclear materials and equipment.
Financial support: Two different types of grants and financial support opportunities are available to interested and qualified applicants.
The OCED NEA awards financial grants to a select number of students from its member countries who qualify for the program.
In addition, the International Atomic Energy Agency gives financial support to a limited number of professionals from its member states who are eligible under its Technical Cooperation Program.
