The event space at Mandalay Bay will allow more room for the conference’s technical sessions and great networking opportunities that bring together the nuclear community like no other meeting.
Two embedded topical meetings, Advanced Reactor Safety (ARS) and International Congress on Advances in Nuclear Power Plants (ICAPP), will also take place June 16–19.
Ray Klann, acting group leader of the Nuclear Engineering Group in the National Security Directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and this year’s technical program chair, has a welcome message for attendees: “I, along with the assistant technical program chairs [Christina Leggett and John Bess], look forward to seeing you at the 2024 ANS Annual Conference in the entertainment capital of the world—Las Vegas.”
The conference will feature three days of presentations and panel discussions comprising 18 different technical subject areas. At the time of this writing, the technical program is currently being organized, according to Klann.
One change from previous years, Klann continued is that “in addition to the regular presentation format, this year’s annual conference also offers a new option for presenters: a lightning talk . . . a fast-paced presentation on a relevant technical topic limited to 10 minutes. To present a lightning talk, all that is required for approval is an abstract of the subject to be addressed.”
Embedded topicals: “ARS 2024 brings the nuclear community together to share recent research on new and interesting safety-related research. This meeting will be of interest for those working in deterministic and probabilistic safety approaches,” said Klann.
ICAPP provides a forum for leaders of the nuclear industry to exchange information, present results from their work, review the state of the industry, and discuss future directions and needs for the deployment of new nuclear power plant systems around the world.
