NRC shares Clinton license renewal application online

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has published Clinton Power Station’s initial license renewal on the agency’s website.

Constellation Energy submitted the application February 14, seeking an extension for the Illinois plant's current operating license from 20 years to 40 years. This would allow the Illinois plant to run through 2047.

What’s next: The NRC staff is reviewing the application to determine if it is sufficiently complete before beginning more detailed safety and environmental reviews. If the application is determined to be complete, the staff will docket it and publish a notice of opportunity for the public to request a hearing before the NRC’s Atomic Safety and Licensing Board.

Information about the license renewal process is available on the NRC website. A published copy of the Clinton license renewal application will be available at the Vespasian Warner Public Library, 310 N. Quincy St. in Clinton, Ill.
