The American Nuclear Society is now accepting applications for knowledge managers to work during the 2024 Utility Working Conference and Vendor Technology Expo. This year’s UWC, “Nuclear Momentum: Advancing Our Clean Energy Future,” will be held August 4–7, 2024, at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort on Marco Island, Fla.

ANS’s Operations & Power Division is sponsoring up to six knowledge managers by covering the registration fee and a three-night stay at the resort.

Further details on the conference are available online.

Apply now: All young members and students are welcome to apply to serve as knowledge managers. Applications are available on the 2024 UWC meeting website and are due by Friday, May 10, 2024. Those who are accepted will be notified on or before May 24, 2024.

Work responsibilities: Knowledge managers must be available to work from 3:00 p.m. (EDT) on Sunday, August 4, until 12:00 p.m. (EDT) on Wednesday, August 7. The job entails documenting ideas, recommendations, and best practices from meeting sessions.

About the UWC: The UWC is an annual meeting of the minds that consistently generates well-supported, practical recommendations designed to address the industry’s most pressing needs. It provides an excellent opportunity for benchmarking and sharing best practices and includes a vendor technology expo.

The conference: An important part of the UWC is knowledge sharing, and thus the goal of the meeting is to develop actionable recommendations that professionals at nuclear power plants can put into practice. The technical program chair will distribute the knowledge managers’ writeups to the functional area managers across the U.S. nuclear fleet at the conclusion of the conference.

If you have any questions, email Chris Hoose or ANS meetings and exhibits manager Eileen Cullen.
