Monday kicks off with the opening plenary, moderated by the general chair, John Wagner from Idaho National Laboratory, and led by the U.S. secretary of energy, Jennifer M. Granholm. Opening the meeting are several influential speakers, including Jeff Lyash, Tennessee Valley Authority; Chris Womack, Southern Company; Michael Goff, Department of Energy; Peter Freed, Clean Energy Buyers Alliance; Adam Stein, the Breakthrough Institute; and Briana Kobor, Google.
The special session on Tuesday will be a timely discussion about the many uses of nuclear isotopes. From innovative cancer treatments to providing power to spacecrafts and lunar rovers and everything in between, the uses for radioisotopes are growing by the day. Catherine Prat of Westinghouse Electric Company will moderate the panel, which will include Riaz Bandali, Nordion; Harsh Desai, Zeno Power; Ben Goodrich, TerraPower; and Ross Radel, SHINE Technologies.

The meetings app: The best way to prepare for the Annual Conference is to download the ANS Meetings app. With this resource, you will have access to the most up-to-date information as well as networking tools, including the ability to message fellow attendees.
To get the app, scan the QR code on the Annual Conference website, every registered attendee will have access to download the app from the website. To maximize your experience—and connect to all this meeting has to offer—enter the passphrase. (Registered attendees will find the passphrase on the conference website under the headline “Download the ANS Meetings app.”)
The ANS Meetings app is attendees’ comprehensive guide to the meeting. It contains all of the sessions, networking events, dining options, and—very importantly—the Connect feature, which allows attendees to communicate with each other through the app to foster better networking.
Connect feature: After logging in, your profile will be public and you will be automatically included in this list of attendees. (To use this feature, profiles must be set to “public,” attendees have the option to opt out of this function.)
Connect with other attendees by tapping on the “add” button to the right of the user's name or by selecting their profile and tapping “Connect with” at the bottom of the page.
The Connections section of your profile and the Connections tab in the Connect feature will show your list of connections. Tap on a name to access that person’s full profile and chat directly within the app.
Social media: While at the meeting, you can also use social media to your networking advantage. Tag your posts #ANSannual, #ANSconferences, and #AllInOnNuclear to share your experience and keep the conversations going before, during, and after the conference!
