The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency’s Global Forum on Nuclear Education, Science, Technology, and Policy has developed the Nuclear Workforce Survey to explore how and why individuals decide to join the nuclear field and how their experiences impact decisions to stay or leave.

The survey is open until December 31, 2024. The NEA said in a December 4 press release, “We kindly invite you to share this survey with your colleagues, members, and partners.”

The target: The survey is intended for anyone who is currently a student in the nuclear field or has graduated in the past 20 years. The “nuclear field” is defined as nuclear science and engineering and related areas of science, technology, law, policy, and education.

Note: The responses are anonymous and will be used to formulate recommendations for making the nuclear field more welcoming to students from all backgrounds, according to the NEA.

About the NEA: There are 34 NEA member countries representing 80 percent of the world's installed nuclear electricity generating capacity. The NEA’s mission is to assist its member countries in maintaining and further developing through international cooperation the scientific, technological, and legal bases required for a safe, environmentally sound, and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. It offers authoritative assessments and strives to forge a common understanding on key issues as input to government decisions on nuclear energy policy and to broader OECD analyses in areas such as energy and the sustainable development of low‑carbon economies. The information, data, and analyses it provides draw on international networks of technical experts.
